ZERO : 영어교육도시에 소재한 NLCS 제주가 민간에 매각된다고 한다.

J: 그 동안 JDC의 자회사가 운영해 왔다.
J: It has been operated by a subsidiary of JDC.
ZERO: 정부의 공공기관 경영합리화 방침에 따라서 자회사가 운영해오던 국제학교 중 한곳을 민간에 이전하기로 한 것이다.
Under the government's policy of efficient management of public institutions, one of the international schools operated by subsidiaries has been decided to be sold to the private sector.
J: 어떤 절차를 거치게 되는가요? J: What kind of procedures does it go through?
ZERO: JDC는 삼정KPMG를 매각 주관사로 선정했다. 그리고 NLCS 제주의 민간 이전 절차를 밟고 있다.
ZERO: JDC Picks Samjeong KPMG as the host for Coordinator.
And it is in the process of relocating NLCS Jeju to the private sector.
J: 현재 영어교육도시에는 4개의 국제학교 가 있다. NLCS, BHA, SJA, KIS.
JDC 자회사 제인스가 운영하는 학교는 3곳이다.
There are currently four international schools in Global education city. NLCS, BHA, SJA, KIS.
There are three schools run by JDC subsidiary 제인스.
ZERO: 글렇다. KIS는 제주도교육청이 민간에 위탁해서 운영하고 있다.
That’s right.
KIS is operated by the Jeju Provincial Office of Education entrusted to the private sector.
J: 민간 이전 대상 학교에 NLCS가 선정된 이유는 무엇인가요.
J: Why was NLCS selected as a private transfer target school.
ZERO: 왜냐하면 NLCS가 재정여건과 학교 충원율(정원 대비 현원 비율) 등이 가장 안정적이다.
Because NLCS has the most stable financial conditions and school recruitment rates (the ratio of current employees to quota).
J: NLCS는 영국 기반 학교이다. 2011년에 개교했다.
유치원, 초중고 통합 국제학교로 명망이 높다.
J: NLCS is a British based school. It opened in 2011.
It has a high reputation as a kindergarten, elementary, middle and high school integrated international school.
ZERO: NLCS와 BHA는 인기가 매우 높다. 입학 대기자도 늘고 있다.
올해 2월 학생 정원이 각각 243명, 283명 증원되었다.
ZERO: NLCS and BHA are very popular. The number of people waiting for admission is also increasing.
In February this year, the number of students increased by 243 and 283, respectively.
J: NLCS 재학생 수는 어떻게 되죠? J: What's the number of NLCS students?
ZERO: 2022-2023 학기 기준으로 1463명으로 4개 국제학교 중 가장 많다.
충원율도 올해 2월 243명을 증원해서 76%에 육박한다.
ZERO: 1463 as of the 2022-2023 school year, the largest number of four international schools.
The recruitment rate also increased by 243 people in February this year, reaching 76%.
J: 졸업생들의 대학 진학률도 꽤 좋은 편이다.
J: The college entrance rate for graduates is also pretty good.
ZERO: 2021-2022학년도 NLCS 졸업생 118명 중 93%인 110명이 케임브리지대학교, 옥스퍼드 대학교, 스탠퍼드 대학교, 시카고 대학교 등 외국대학에 진학했다.
대부분의 국제학교 학생들의 외국대학 진학률은 90%를 웃돌고 있다.
110 out of 118 NLCS graduates in the 2021-2022 school year, it accounts 93%, went to overseas universities such as Cambridge, Oxford, Stanford, and the University of Chicago.
Most international school students' enrollment in foreign universities exceeds 90%.
J: 제주 국제학교는 다른지역의 국제학교와 다르다. 외국거주에 대한 조건도 없다. 누구나 입학 가능하다. 운영 과목 규제도 없다. 민간이전과 관련하여 다음 절차는 어떻게 되는가?
Jeju International School is different from other international schools in other regions.
There are no conditions for Koreans’ foreign residence experience.
Anyone is allowed to be enter. There are no regulations on specific classes.
What is the next procedure in relation to private relocation?
ZERO: 구체화된 매각계획을 수립하고 하반기에 매각 공고를 낼 예정이다.
이미 국내뿐 아니라 외국기업 등 5개 기업이 NLCS 인수 의사를 표한 것으로 알고 있다.
A detailed sale plan will be established and a sale announcement will be made in the second half of the year.
I understand that not only domestic but also foreign companies have already expressed their intention to acquire NLCS.
J: 학교매각 가치는 얼마나 될 것으로 보는가. How much do you think the school will be worth.
ZERO: 최소 2100억원으로 보고 있다. ZERO: At least 210 million USD.
J: 공공기관의 경영합리화 차원에서의 민간이전이 잘 추진되기를 기대해 본다. 추가로 국제학교를 유치할 계획은 없는가? 부지에는 총 7개 학교를 유치할 수 있다. 향후 3개 더 가능.
I hope that private relocation will be well promoted in terms of efficient management of public institutions. Are there any plans to attract additional international schools?
A total of seven schools can be hosted on the site. Three more are possible in the future.
ZERO : 2017년 10월 SJA 개교 이후에 추가로 설립된 학교는 없다.
나머지 3개 국제학교는 100% 민간 자본으로 설립/운영하도록 되어 있다.
ZERO: No additional schools have been established since the opening of the SJA in October 2017.
The remaining three international schools are to be established/operated with 100% private capital.
J: 영어교육도시에 국제학교가 더 들어오길 기대해 본다.
J: I look forward to seeing more international schools in the Global Education City.
