There used to be Tamna University in Seogwipo area.

Tamna University was located in Hawon-dong in Seogwipo. But this univercity is closed now.
Z: 옛 탐라대학교 부지를 ‘테크노캠퍼스’로 개발하겠다는 정책을 발표한바 있다.
일명 하원 테크노 캠퍼스 라고.
하원테크노캠퍼스를 우주산업과 첨단사업의 전진기지로 조성하는 계획이다.
It has announced a policy to develop the former Tamna University site as a "technology campus."
It's called the Hawon Techno Campus.
The plan is to create a Techno Campus as an advance base for the space industry and high-tech business.
A: 오영훈 도지사는 언론을 통해서 제주를 여러 차례 민간우주산업 전진기지로 조성하겠다는 계획을 강조한 바 있다.
Governor Oh has emphasized its plan to make Jeju a forward base for the private space industry several times through the various media.
Z: 이 테크노캠퍼스에 첨단 위성제조시설을 건립하는 계획이 속도를 내고 있다.
The Plan to build a high-tech satellite manufacturing facility at this techno campus are speeding up.
A: 지난 여름에 제주도청과 기업 한화시스템이 업무협약을 체결한 바도 있다. 소식을 접해서 알고 있다.
Last summer, the Jeju Provincial Government and Hanwha System(A Korean Company) signed a business agreement. I read the news article.
Z: 그렇다. 지난 7월 제주도청과 한화시스템이 우주산업 육성을 위한 업무협약을 체결했다.
이제 행정절차가 본격적으로 진행될 예정이다.
Yes. In July, the Jeju Provincial Government and Hanwha System signed a business agreement to foster the space industry.
Now, the administrative process is scheduled to begin to push.

Z: 한화시스템은 업무협약에서 수백억원을 투입해서
제주에 한화우주센터를 건립하겠다는 계획을 내놨다. 부지는 약1만평방미터 규모다.
In a business agreement, Hanwha System plans to invest tens of approx. millions of dollars
to build the Hanwha Space Center in Jeju. The site is about 33,000 square meters.
A: 우주센터라. 정말 민간우주산업 시대가 도래했군요.
우주센터에서 위성을 직접 쏘아 올리는건 아니죠? 위성을 제조하고 연구하는 시설일까요?
Wow, the space center. The era of the private space industry is coming.
I don’t think the company is launching a satellite directly from the space center.
Is it a facility that manufactures and researches satellites?
Z: 위성 AIT(위성체 조립 및 기능 시험) 시설이 들어설 예정이다.
이 시설은 우주센터의 핵심 인프라시설이다.
이 시설의 조기 착공을 위한 인허가 등 실무협의를 진행하고 있다.
위성 AIT는 제주우주센터 사업의 첫 단계이자 핵심이다.
Satellite AIT: Assembly Integration Test facility will be built.
(It is doing Satellite Assembly and Functional Test)
This facility is the core infrastructure of the space center.
Working-level discussions such as licensing for early construction of the facility are underway.
Satellite AIT is the first step and core of the Jeju Space Center project.
A: 그럼 언제 이 시설들이 들어서는 걸까요?
So when will these facilities be built?
Z: 내년 상반기 착공을 목표로 추진 중이다.
현재는 제주도청이 하원테크노캠퍼스 지구단위 계획 수립을 위해서 용역을 진행 중이다.
내년 9월까지 진행할 예정이다.
이와 병행해서 제주우주센터 조기 착공을 위해서 오는 12월부터 공장설립 등 개별행위 인허가 절차가 본격 진행될 예정이다.
We are pushing ahead with the goal of starting construction in the first half of next year.
Currently, the Jeju Provincial Government is working on a service to establish a district unit plan for the Hawon Techno Campus.
It is scheduled to run until September next year.
And also, in order to start early construction of the Jeju Space Center, the approval process for individual activities, including the establishment of a factory, will begin in December.
A: 캠퍼스 구역을 크게 놓고 지구단위 계획도 진행하면서
공장시설과 같은 개별행위 인허가를 동시에 진행하고 있군요.
민간우주산업을 위한 속도를 내는 모습이 보인다.
It sets up a large scale of land with Campus project and proceed the Development District Unit Plan and also doing a Single Approval Process for factory facilities.
It is seen speeding up for the private space industry.
Z: 제주도청은 도시계획 심의를 비롯해서 공장설립 인가, 건축허가 등 행정절차를 빠르게 진행하고 있다.
앞서 언급했듯 내년 상반기에 위성 AIT 시설을 조기에 착공할 계획이다.
위성 AIT 시설이 준공되면 제주에서는 소형 위성이 생산 가능하다.
The Jeju Provincial Government is rapidly proceeding with administrative procedures such as review of urban planning, approval of factory establishment, and building permits.
As mentioned earlier, it plans to start construction of satellite AIT facilities early in the first half of next year.
When the satellite AIT facility is completed, small satellites can be produced in Jeju.
A: 그럼 이 위성들이 다른 곳으로 보내져서 우주로 발사하게 되겠네요.
Then these satellites will be sent to other places and launched into space.
Z: 한화시스템은 제주에서 생산한 위성을 국내뿐만 아니라 위성 보유국에 수출하는 방안을 구상하고 있다.
참고로 소형위성은 현재 우주산업에서 가장 활발하게 연구와 개발, 생산이 이루어지고 있는 제품군이다.
Hanwha System is planning to export satellites produced in Jeju not only to Korea but also to countries related to satellites.
For your information, small satellites are currently the most actively researched, developed, and produced products in the space industry.
A: 일론 머스크의 스페이스 엑스도 소형위성을 활용하고 있는 것으로 알고 있다. (스타링크 서비스). 제주가 민간우주산업의 중심지로 거듭날 수 있기를 기대한다.
I understand that Elon Musk's Space X is also using small satellites. (through Starlink service).
I hope that Jeju will be reborn as the center of the private space industry.
