A: 가파도는 2030 카본프리아일랜드의 대표적인 섬이다.
탄소중립의 테스트베드 섬이라고 할 수 있다.
Gapado Island is a representative island of 2030 carbon free islands.
It can be said to be a carbon neutral testbed island.
Z: 하지만 가파도의 풍력발전기가 철거된다.
탄소없는섬 구현을 위해 제주도가 야심차게 추진했던 가파도 프로젝트에는 풍력발전기가 있다.
But the wind turbines on Gapado Island are being demolished.
The Gapado project, which was ambitiously pursued by Jeju Island to realize a carbon-free island, has wind generators.

How many wind turbines are in Gapado Island in total?
Z: 가파도에는 풍력발전기 2대가 설치되어 있다. 한국남부발전이 설치했던 발전기이다.
CFI2030의 일환으로 한국남부발전이 2012년 9월에 설치되었다.
Two wind turbines are installed on Gapado Island.
It is a generator installed by Korea Southern Power Co.
As part of CFI2030, Korea Southern Power was established in September 2012.
A: 발전용량은 어느정도나 되죠? What is the power generation capacity?
Z: 1기당 용량은 250kw급이다.
설치될 당시의 가파도 최대 전략량은 224kw였다.
가파도의 전력 모두를 이 풍력발전으로 대체할 수 있을 것으로 기대를 모았다.
이는 연간 2억원 수입에 해당하는 가치이다. 그리고 온실가스 677톤을 감축하는 것과 맞먹는 효과이다.
The capacity per unit is 250kw.
At the time of installation, the maximum strategic amount of Gapado Island was 224kw.
It was expected that all of Gapado's electricity could be replaced by wind power.
This is equivalent to an annual income of 200 million won.
And it is equivalent to a reduction of 677 tons of greenhouse gas.
A: 그런데 어떤 문제가 발생한 것인가요? By the way, what kind of problem has occurred?
Z: 막상 생산된 전력을 가정으로 공급하기 위한 전력변환장치 설계용량 등의 문제로 풍력발전기는 1년 넘게 가동되지 못했다. 보완 작업을 거친 후에 가동을 시작하긴 했지만 2020년 10월 태풍의 영향으로 시설이 훼손되었다.
The wind power generator has not been in operation for more than a year due to problems such as the design capacity of the power conversion device to supply the generated electricity to the home.
Although it started operation after complementary work, the facility was damaged by the typhoon in October 2020.
A: 그 이후 수리가 안된 건가요? Has it not been repaired since then?
Z: 제주도청과 한국남부발전은 발전기 수리를 시도했다.
그러나 발전기가 이미 10년도 더 된 모델이고 부품도 단종되었다.
이렇게 방치되는 동안 발전기는 노후되었다.
The Jeju Provincial Government and Korea Southern Power Co. tried to repair the generator.
However, the generator is already more than 10 years old, and parts have been discontinued.
While left unattended, the generator is aged.
