Z: 제주국제자유도시 개발센터는 제3차 제주국제자유도시종합계획에 맞춰 향후 ‘글로벌 교류 허브’를 구축할 계획을 세우고 추진 중에 있다.
이를 위해 센터는 제주시에 위치한 지금은 문을 닫은 제주칼호텔 매입을 추진하고 있다.
Jeju Free International City Development Center is planning and promoting the establishment of a 'global exchange hub' in line with the 3rd Jeju Free International City Comprehensive Plan.
The center is pursuing the purchase of the now-closed Jeju Kal Hotel located in Jeju City.

What kinds and functions will be built in the Global Exchange Hub project?
Z: 제주국제자유도시개발센터에 따르면 제주칼호텔 건물에 글로벌교류허브를 조성하고 스페인 몬드라곤 대학교 아시아 캠퍼스 본부를 비롯해서 무역사무소, 스타트업 육성 스페이스 공간, 워케이션(휴가지 원격근무) 센터 등이 입주하는 것으로 준비하고 있다.
According to the Jeju Free International City Development Center, a global exchange hub will be established in the Jeju KAL Hotel building and trade offices, start-up development spaces, and work (remote work for vacation) centers will be located, including the Asian campus headquarters of the University of Mondragon in Spain.
A: 칼호텔은 2년 전 문을 닫았다. 소유주인 한진그룹은 경영개선을 위해서 호텔 문을 닫고, 건물과 부지에 대한 처분 결정을 내린바 있다.
The Kal Hotel was closed two years ago. Hanjin Group, the owner of the hotel, closed its doors to improve management and decided to dispose of its buildings and sites.
Z: 제주칼호텔은 1974년에 문을 열었다. 높이는 72미터, 19층으로 당시에는 가장 높은 건물로 제주도 관광의 상징과 같았다.
2014년 제주롯데시티호텔이 들어서기 전까지 제주의 최고층 빌딩이었다.
롯데시티호텔은 89미터 22층이다.
The Jeju Kal Hotel was opened in 1974. With its height of 72 meters and 19 stories, it was the tallest building at the time and was the symbol of tourism on Jeju Island.
It was the tallest building in Jeju until the Lotte City Hotel in Jeju was built in 2014.
Lotte City Hotel is 89 meters and 22 floors.
