A: 영어교육도시는 제주에서 성공한 프로젝트 중 하나로 손 꼽힌다.
언제부터 시작된 사업이죠?
The Glboal Education City Project is considered one of the successful projects in Jeju.
When did this business start?
Z: 2009년부터 시작된 프로젝트이다. 그 이전에도 계획은 수립되어 있었다.
제주국제자유도시개발센터가 Developer로 지정되어 2009년부터 참여하게 되었다.
It's a project that started in 2009.
Even before that, there was a plan in place.
The Jeju Free International City Development Center has been designated as a Developer and has been participating since 2009.
A: 국제학교 등이 들어선 교육도시를 조성하는 프로젝트이다.
제주 지역사회에 큰 경제 활력을 주고 있다.
It is a project to create an educational city where international schools are built.
It is giving great economic vitality to the Jeju community.
Z: 간단한 예로 인구증가가 있다.
서귀포시 대정읍 일대의 인구를 보자.
2008년 총인구수가 17, 056명이었다.
2023년 23,938명으로 140% 증가했다.
외국인도 2008년 170명에서 2023년 1851명으로 증가했다.
There is a simple example. The population has been grown.
Let's look at the population of Daejeong-eup, Seogwipo-si.
The total population in 2008 was 17,056.
It increased 140% to 23,938 in 2023.
The number of foreigners also increased from 170 in 2008 to 1,851 in 2023.
A: 이 프로젝트에는 학교유치 뿐 아니라 여러시설들이 복합적으로 조성되었다.
말 그대로 도시를 육성했다.
사람이 거주하는 거주시설들도 늘어난 것으로 알고 있다.
In addition to attracting schools, various facilities were created in this project.
Literally fostered the city. The new city, a new town.
I understand that residential facilities where people live have also increased.
Z: 인구가 늘었기 때문에 당연히 세대수 역시 늘었다. 2008년 6697세대에서 10800세대로 늘었다.
Naturally, the number of households has also increased because the population has increased. It increased from 6697 households in 2008 to 10,800 households.
A: 사람이 늘었으니 소비가 늘고, 이는 지역경제 활력으로 이어진다.
Consumption increases as the number of people increases, which leads to the vitality of the local economy.
Z: 서귀포시 지역내총생산은 2008년 8078억원이었다.
2021년 5조 5060억원으로 늘었다.
Seogwipo City's gross regional product was 807.8 billion won in 2008.
It increased to KRW 5.506 trillion in 2021.
A: 무려 4조원 이상이 증가한 셈이네요. 하나의 교육도시, 도시가 성공적으로 조성된 사업이다.
That means it's increased by more than 4 trillion won.
It's a successful project to create an educational city and a city.
Z: 결과적으로 도시가 조성되면서 인구, 세대수, 상업시설들, GRDP 등 모든 것이 증가한 셈이다.
As a result, everything from population, number of households, commercial facilities, GRDP, etc. increased as the city was created.
