Z: 제주는 그 동안 아프리카의 나미비아 공화국과 에너지분야에서 국제협력을 해 나가기 위해 논의를 계속 해왔다.
Z: Jeju government  has been in discussions with the Republic of Namibia in Africa for international cooperation in the energy sector.

A: 제주의 글로벌 교류활동 영역이 아프리카까지 넓혀졌군요.
A: Jeju's global exchange activities have expanded to Africa.

Z: 2023년 12월초 두바이에서 제28차 기후변화 당사국 총회가 있었다.
Z: COP28 was held in Dubai in early December 2023.

A: 제주는 대한민국의 환경정책을 선도하는 곳이다.
기후변화 총회에 참석했군요.
A: Jeju is leading Korea in the area of environmental policy.
Jeju delegation attended the climate change conference.

Z: 두바이 엑스포시티에서 개최된 COP28에 참가한 제주 방문단은 나미비아와 만나 국제협력 방안을 논의했다.
Z: The Jeju delegation who participated in COP28 held at the Dubai Expo City met with Namibia to discuss international cooperation ways.

A: 제주의 강점인 신재생에너지 분야에서 협력하기로 한건가요?

Z: 크게 3가지 분야에서 협력하기로 하였다.
재생에너지 분야, 1차산업 그리고 마이스산업이다.
재생에너지의 경우 공동으로 프로젝트를 기획하기로 했다.
Z: Jeju and Namibia will cooperate in three major areas.
They are renewable energy, primary and MICE industries.
In the case of renewable energy, they decided to jointly plan the project.

A: 어느 정도 규모의 프로젝트가 될 것인가?

Z: 300메가와트급 재생에너지 프로젝트를 공동으로 추진하기로 했다.
그리고 1차산업도 협력하기로 합의했다.
그리고 마이스분야에서도 공동으로 전시 프로젝트를 하기로 하는 등 컨벤션분야에서도 협력 계획을 논의했다.
이를 위해 제주국제컨벤션센터도 논의를 위한 몇 차례 회의와 협약에 참가했다.
Z: We have decided to jointly promote a 300 megawatt renewable energy project.
And both agreed to cooperate with the primary industry.
In addition, both discussed cooperation plans in the convention field, including a joint exhibition project.
Jeju International Convention Center also participated in several meetings and agreements for discussion.

Z: 이번 교류의향서 협약체결은 양지역의 잠재력과 가능성을 확인하는 계기가 되었다.

Z: 탄소중립은 전세게적인 트렌드이다. 글로벌 탄소중립을 위한 지역 간 국제협력을 확대하는 선도 모델 사례로 평가받고 있다. 앞으로 지역과 국가, 아시아와 아프리카 대륙이 함께 지속가능한 사회로 나아갈 수 있을 것이다.
이번 협약은 제주라는 지방정부가 나미지아라는 국가정부간 협약으로 향후 제주라는 지방정부가 아프리카 대륙과 함께 지속가능한 사회로 나아가는 동력을 얻은 것이다.
Z: Carbon neutrality is a global trend.
It is evaluated as a leading model case for expanding international cooperation between regions for global carbon neutrality. In the future, the region and countries, and the Asian and African continents will be able to move forward together as a sustainable society.
This LOI is an agreement between the local government of Jeju and the national government of Namibia, which gives the local government of Jeju the momentum to move toward a sustainable society along with the African continent in the future.

A: 제주는 또 그린수소 생산과 보급에 힘을 쓰고 있다.
그린수소 분야도 향후 아프리카와 협력할 수 있을 것이다.
A: Jeju is also working hard to produce and supply green hydrogen.
The green hydrogen sector will also be able to cooperate with Africa in the future.

Z: 제주의 그린수소 생산과 보급 기술이 나미비아에도 반영되어서 협력 성과를 낼 것이다.
Z: Jeju's green hydrogen production and distribution technology will be shared and cooperated with Namibia and it will draw the result in cooperative results.

A: 1차 산업은 어떤 분야에서 제주와 나미비아 간 협력이 진행될 예정인가요?

Z: 제주의 감귤과 감자 품목이다.
나미비아에서 매우 크게 관심을 갖고 있다.
이외에도 마이스산업의 노하우와 운영 지원 시스템도 향후 공유될 것이다.
Z: It's Jeju's citrus and potato items.
Namibia is very much interested in Jeju tangerine and potato.  
In addition, the know-how and operation support system of the MICE industry will be shared in the future.

A: 제주의 글로벌 영역이 아프리카 대륙까지 커져 나가고 있다.
A: Jeju's global territory is expanding to the African continent.

Z: 나미비아는 다양한 자원을 보유한 국가이다. 제주도의 기술과 만나 큰 시너지를 낼 것이다.
Z: Namibia is a country with diverse resources. It will create great synergy when it meets Jeju's technology.
